College classes that would benefit in a print shop?
I currently work as an apprentice Pressman and part-time with his son, making signs and stickers with vinyl. I will start college at some point later in the fall and I was wanting to, that some courses to participate and benefit in accordance with my work. I was proposed to CAD / AutoCAD, and some editing program courses, but many universities do not really … Teaching about the programs use a lot of printing. A few examples of what I will do ..:-setting, business cards, printing, CV, pamphlets, brochures, invitations, photo editing, image sizing and cut reduction, computer Lettering / vinyl cut text and image stickers …… so on. From each of the suggestions which I appreciate.
Sounds like you need some Graphic design classes to take. I am focusing on graphic design at the Art Institute and they focus on those kind of things. So all the things you listed here are things that I learned in the classes I've met there. Depending on the school you are probably the classes a little differently. For the graphic design majors, you should learn Typography, layout design, Adobe programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. If your school is not offering courses to learn these programs are also books that teach you how to use the program step by step, which is very helpful because many of the top courses for the programs I have all my teachers had sucked! haha. But once you use it every day, and this practice, you will find it easier to learn and use. Also learning to use the Mac would be beneficial to most designers prefer Macs on PCs.
